Hand-Carved Stone Signs
"Through the Looking Glass"
Antique Alley on South Jefferson Street
Nashville, Indiana; 812-988-1724

Mary Ann Whitaker and Tom Thompson have been creating stone carvings in their Antique Alley shop in downtown Nashville, Indiana, for 24 years. There, they create some of the most unique, sought-after pieces in the area.

Their creative stone carvings will outlive their owners, as they are used for driveway markers, cemetery headstones, custom art pieces, and commemorative ornamentation. While Tom concentrates on the actual stone carvings, Mary Ann focuses on glass art creations, plus routed and sandblasted wood signs.

A native of neighboring Morgan County, Mary Ann is a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in graphic arts. Ten years ago she started making routed wood signs, and they can be seen throughout Brown County and beyond. She also does sandblasted wood sculpture and signs, as well as etched and sandblasted glass art pieces.

Tom's custom, stone-carved artwork, with its functionality and endurance, makes it an all-season consideration for outside use. Driving around Brown County, you've no doubt seen the many stone pieces the couple have created. Normally, they use Brown County sandstone for their stone-carving canvas, but they'll use any stone their client likes. If the piece of artwork you have in mind is large, they can bring their tools and create a work of art on your site, wherever the stone is sitting.

"Through the Looking Glass" is located at the corner of Jefferson and Franklin Streets in the area known as "Antique Alley" in beautiful downtown Nashville, Indiana. You can reach Mary Ann and Tom at 812-988-1724.
